As a Sophomore, Izzy earned her way into the rotation as both DS and Setter. The team fell in the Semi-Finals to the eventual 5A winner, Horizon. (See video from this High School season under the "Izzy in Action" tab).
Her clutch serving was of particular note. Next year's team will see the return of a key OH and all but one departing starting senior. State Champions in-waiting!
In her Sophomore year, Izzy is a Varsity DS/Setter. On a team with 4 setters, Izzy is currently #2.
Coach Chris Brown is building a team of young, athletic players which will generate a winning program for years to come. 5 seniors, 7 juniors and 3 sophomores.
* In mid-January, the team's #1 setter went out for six weeks with a badly sprained left ankle. Izzy stepped in, playing a 5-1. By the time the setter returned, the team was 18-5 and ranked 19th in the nation.
* Mid-February saw the team's OH (and arguably, best hitter) go down with a full-tear of her ACL. She is out for the season.
* As defense will continue to be a key, Izzy will be called upon to bring her energy and instincts to bear.
* Team is still searching for answers in response to a disappointing showing in Orlando's Sunshine Classic. Izzy has been inserted into a starting DS role as the team searches for better passing.
* Izzy's team rebounded in AZ Open #4 going 3-0 against two 18s teams. Izzy played defense and took over setting duties for the 2nd and 3rd sets of the final match.
* 1st Place at Show Me Tournament in Kansas City, earning a Bid to Nationals!
* 1st Place at Far Western National Qualifier - Team went 10 -0, winning every set.
**Heading to Las Vegas for Nationals!!!! (see "Upcoming Games" for details)
The team was once again hit by the injury bug. On consecutive days, two hitters went down with severe ankle injuries. The team failed to place/medal. Still, considering losing three hitters, the team had an enormously successful year and Izzy continued to grow and gain more responsibility.
